Diver

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 3, 2026

Diver is an app that helps friends decide what to watch together. This policy explains what information Diver collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: we collect what's needed to run your account, your groups and your recommendations. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

Account details

Your email address and password when you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider. With Apple you can choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address.

Profile

Your username, display name, profile picture (if you add one) and region. Your region is set from your phone's language and region settings, and you can change it in Settings. We use it to show which streaming services carry a title where you live. Your username, display name and picture are visible to people in your groups.

What you do in the app

Letterboxd import (optional)

If you connect Letterboxd, you give us your Letterboxd username. We read your public Letterboxd activity feed to import your ratings, and store the username so you can sync again. You can disconnect at any time in Settings.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can tell you when a group vote starts or a winner is picked.

Feedback

If you send feedback or a bug report, we store your message along with your app version, device platform and account email so we can follow up.

Invite links

When someone opens an invite or share link, we may record that the link was opened and who shared it, so we can attribute sign-ups to referrals.

What we don't collect

Diver doesn't access your location, contacts, photos (other than a profile picture you choose to upload) or microphone. We don't use advertising identifiers and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How we use your information

Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We use a small number of service providers to run Diver, and they process data only on our behalf:

Other members of a group you join can see your username, display name, picture, your votes in that group, and whether you're active. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, lists, ratings, preferences, group memberships and votes, as well as groups you created. Some ratings may be kept in anonymized form that can no longer be linked to you, so overall title scores stay accurate. If you can't access the app, email us and we'll delete your account for you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to how we use it. You can update most information in the app. For anything else, contact us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted by account-level security rules in our database. No service is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you.

Children

Diver isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If the changes are significant, we'll also let you know in the app.
